Black Manzanita is a unique variety that was discovered in the Bay Area.  Cuttings and rooted tree were gifted to us by finder, Alistair Bland, and we have sucessfully grown them to fruiting.

This tree sets fruit without the need for wasp pollination, making it a common variety in most gardens. It produces a small breba crop and a main crop that starts to ripen in late August or early September. The fruits have a thick, sticky, and jammy texture, making them perfect for jams, jellies, and preserves. Its moderately sweet figs become syrupy when perfectly ripened, and have been known to nearly dry on the branch in warm weather. The flavor is reminiscent of blackberry jam, with a distinct figgy taste.  Add this special Black Manzanita to your fig collection today
